About us

MKA Economics support projects by appraising their economic viability, socio-economic value and advising on their delivery. We work across sectors and geographies and have a particular specialism in development and regeneration, energy transition, food and drink, ports and harbours and tourism and leisure.

MKA Economics has been operating since 2009. The company was incorporated in 2015 and is directed by Mark Kummerer and Leeanne Lowden.

MKA Economics is a proud member of Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce, Inverness Chamber of Commerce, Moray Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Association Scotland.

MKA Economics is retained on SSE's Socio-Economic Framework for all SSE's renewable investments and developments, covering the period to 2026.

MKA Economics worked with us to produce an economic impact assessment that is relevant and easy to digest. They consulted with a wide range of Harbour Users to gain the widest possible picture of the economic benefits associated with the Harbour. MKA Economics recognised that as a Trust Port, Mallaig Harbour Authority also wants to incorporate wider community benefits as far as possible, and included these in the study. Their communication was excellent, and they presented their Final Report in an easy to understand format to our Board. We would be happy to recommend MKA Economics to any other organisation considering a similar piece of work.
